Andrew Harris chairs two meetings on vertical life in cities
Dr Andrew Harris recently chaired two evenings devoted to films and discussion on vertical life in contemporary cities.
The first on Vertical Spaces was organised by UCL Urban Laboratory in collaboration with Passenger Films and held at the Roxy Bar and Screen.
Films screened were ‘Man on Wire’ (James Marsh, 2008), ‘City of Cranes‘ (Eva Weber, 2007), and ‘Vertical Expectations’ (Simona Piantieri, 2011), with a presentation from Peter Adey (RHUL) and conversation with Simona Piantieri and Eva Weber.
The second on High Rise Life was organised by UCL Urban Laboratory and Open City Docs Fest and held at Royal Academy of Dramatic Art.
Films screened were ‘Um Lugar ao Sol’ [High Rise] (Gabriel Mascaro, 2009) and ‘Lift’ (Marc Isaacs, 2002). This was followed by an in-depth discussion with Marc Isaacs (Director, Lift), Luciana Martins (Birkbeck), Tom Cordell (Director, Utopia London) and Richard Baxter (QMUL).
