Uncertainty Quantification for Climate and Environmental Models
Chris Brierley to co-host EU supported UCL workshop
On 29 June Dr Chris Brierley will co-host an international workshop with the UCL Department of Statistical Science on Uncertainty Quantification for Climate and Environmental Models.
Computer models are fraught with uncertainties arising from the necessary simplification of complex systems. These uncertainties must be embraced, and methods developed to quantify them objectively. This workshop will bring together international experts who have been instrumental in producing probabilistic forecasts for such things as the UK climate, earthquakes and radioactive plumes. It is supported by(Pattern Analysis, Statistical Modelling and Computational Learning), a Network of Excellence funded by the European Union through the Harvest project: Uncertainty Quantification Pipeline for Climate Models.
