UNEP Global Conference on Land Ocean Interactions

Dr Peter Jones has been invited to make a presentation at the UNEP Global Conference on Land Ocean Interactions, Manila, The Philippines on 23-24 January. He will discuss governance frameworks for effectively implementing ecosystem-based marine spatial planning, drawing on his research through the MESMA project and his UNEP funded work on marine protected area governance.

Peter will also participate in a discussion panel that will develop recommendations for the following Intergovernmental Review (IGR-3) on the Implementation of the Global Programme of Action for the Protection of the Marine Environment from Land Based Activities (GPA, 25-27 January 2012).

The conference and intergovernmental review will produce recommendations for actions to protect the marine environment from land based activities as a basis for agreement at the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development (Rio+20), to be held in June.
