Pushpa Arabindoo invited to Paris seminar

“Constructed ecologies” in Chennai

Dr Pushpa Arabindoo was invited by the Centre d’etudes de l’Inde et de l’Asie du Sud, CNRS-EHESS, Paris, to give a seminar as part of their lecture series Équipe de recherché stakes: Politiques socio-économiques et restructurations territoriales.

Her talk, entitled Constructed ecologies, imagined communities: The politics of Adyar Poonga in Chennai, drew on her research on the ecological restoration of the Adyar creek estuary in the city. She traced how, under the guise of participatory planning, communities were constantly being made and unmade during a clear process of neoliberalisation of nature.
