UCL Geography confirmed as first UK department to achieve ESRI Development Centre status
License agreements sealed
In 2008, UCL Geography was the first UK department to achieve ESRI Development Centre (EDC) status. This award is in recognition of our "exemplary programmes" of learning which focus on educating students to both design and develop GIS applications using ESRI's ArcGIS desktop or server technology. Benefits include additional software licenses, as well as the "EDC Student of the Year" award scheme. Professor Paul Longley is the EDC Coordinator and James Cheshire, an ESRI (UK) sponsored PhD student, is the EDC GIS Specialist. The agreement will lead to further cutting-edge research using ESRI software.
The first recipient of the $500 EDC Student of the Year award is Daniel Lewis, who completed his M.Sc. in GIScience last September. Full details of the EDC can be found at http://jamescheshire.co.uk/2009/09/05/edc/
