UCL GIS experts invited to Kyoto/Tokyo

Professor Paul Longley and Dr Alex Singleton were invited by Professor Keiji Yano to give a week-long introductory course in GIS at Ritsumeikan University, Kyoto. As part of the course, students undertook a group project to examine the contrasted geographical distribution and origins within Japan of five Japanese names, as well as the overseas spread of these names. The presentations are available from the Spatial Literacy website at: http://www.spatial-literacy.org/?p=214.

Paul and Alex also gave lectures at the University of Tokyo on "Some Developments in Geographic Information Science" and "Developments in the Specification, Estimation and Testing of Geodemographic Models".
