Nick Mann wins Provost’s Teaching Award

Outstanding contribution to excellence and innovation in UCL Geography teaching

Nick Mann wins Provost’s Teaching Award

Nick Mann, the Geography Department’s Learning Resources Coordinator, is one of eleven members of UCL to be awarded the 2009 Provost’s Teaching Award for his outstanding contribution to excellence and innovation in teaching.

On top of his normal duties as map and student reading room curator and librarian, Nick has masterminded a number of projects enhancing the department’s teaching provision. These include digitising its extensive collection of maps; creating an Online Learning Centre (providing a venue for class-based work with online and software resources not otherwise available within UCL); and the migration of 125 Geography modules onto Moodle. The Award citation notes that all of his activities contribute to a strong learning community, providing outstanding support to the department’s teaching.
