Professor Mark Blacksell, who died in January 2008, was Professor and Head of the Department of Geographical Sciences at Plymouth University from 1994 to 2000, then Dean of Science, and Emeritus Professor from 2003. To mark his contribution to Geography at Plymouth, a Memorial Lecture was given by Hugh Clout on 23rd October, speaking on, "Rebuilding Europe after World War II: the example of Normandy"
