Remote sensing imagery may be used as legal evidence

Professor Ray Harris was invited to a conference at the University of Mississippi, 16 – 18 January 2008, to examine the status of laws concerning satellite remote sensing.

Remote sensing imagery may be used as legal evidence

Ray Harris gave a position paper summarizing the state of relevant laws concerning remote sensing for the United Kingdom and the European Union. Other papers presented the status of remote sensing law in Belgium, France, Canada, Brazil, Japan, Germany and the United States. There was very interesting discussion on the use of remote sensing imagery in courts of law to prosecute environmental offenders, and up to date news on legal rulings of admissibility of remote sensing evidence.
